Maria Mashkova is a renowned actress, beloved by audiences for her role in the TV series "Not Born Beautiful" and numerous works in film and television. She gained widespread recognition following her interview with Yuri Dud, recorded in the spring of 2022, which has garnered over 14 million views.

One woman show "Nadezhdiny," which premiered in late 2023 in Moldova, is based on the diary of Masha Mashkova's great-great-grandmother, Melania Sevruk. At the end of the 19th and beginning of the 20th centuries, she lived in Chisinau, where she met her future husband, the exiled Kharkiv revolutionary Yevgeny Zelensky. His party pseudonym, Lev Nadezhdin, gave the play its name.

In this production, Masha Mashkova plays three roles: herself, her great-great-grandmother Melania, and her great-great-grandfather, the revolutionary Yevgeny Zelensky. The "voice" of Nadezhdin in the play is provided by the famous theater and film actor Anatoly Bely. The performance is filled with captivating animation in the form of projections, making the events on stage suspenseful and engaging. Events that happened over a century ago suddenly become relatable and understandable to the modern audience.

Melania Sevruk's diary is a deep confession of love as well as a valuable historical document, revealing details of the revolution and life in a dying empire.
